RN Quality Program Coordinator (Boulder Surgery Center)

Boulder Surgery Center is an Orthopaedic Ambulatory Surgery Center seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to oversee our Quality and Risk Management Program.
Reports to CEO / AdministratorThe Quality Program Coordinator facilitates oversight of the ongoing performance monitoring program, risk management activities, infection control, clinical education, and oversight of credentialing including the ongoing professional review of the Medical Staff within our Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Person must have perioperative and/or surgery experience.
Responsible for coordinating the Quality and Risk Management program; directs and supervises functions and activities related to quality and staff education.
Possesses the ability to analyze data, initiate root cause analysis, conduct unbiased research, obtain facts from others, draw clinical conclusions, articulate findings in coherent delivery and compose written summaries.
Chairs the Quality Committee; facilitates the MAC - Medical Advisory Committee.
Works with the Medical Director regarding ongoing professional review of the medical staff.
Interprets policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate.
Facilitates compliance to The Joint Commission standards.
Completes State and Federal reporting requirements.
Performs duties in any nursing capacity as needed, maintaining clinical skills in the perioperative setting.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO to accomplish overall facility objectives.

Supports the facility in absence of CEO and/or department Managers, with administrative back-up.
The QPC oversees quality by reviewing unexpected patient care related events submitted in writing by staff members and conducting an investigation when necessary.
Monitors key performance indicators established by managing company for internal and external benchmarking.
Data gathering, collection and reporting is accomplished by using reporting tools provided at the Center.
Possesses the responsibility for oversight of educational needs of the Center.
The role includes the concurrent surveillance of medical staff files for obtaining current dated documentation and primary source verification.
This individual will initiate the ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) process by obtaining information from multiple sources including patient care events entered into ASC WebQI, HST, direct or reported observation, chart audit, patient complaints and other.
Using informatics, the QPC can gather data, identify trends, and report individual provider performance record accurately on a regular basis.

Qualifications:
? Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
? A professional Registered Nurse with broad clinical knowledge and experience, to recognize adverse events and unexpected clinical outcomes.
Recognize events/outcomes needing evaluation by a person in the medical peer group.
? Certification/Education may include BSN, MBA, Master Health Administration, CPHQ or CPHRM.
? Computer literacy.
Aptitude for proficiency in software applications, with the ability to be recognized as a super user of the application providing one-on-one instruction to new users.
? Ability to self-direct, manage time efficiently, complete monthly data entry, and complete monthly reports in a timely manner.
? Ability to gather and organize information, analyze data, and evaluate trends, with recommendation for improvement study as needed.
? Ability to deliver written or verbal reports that are organized and coherent for receiving party.
? Ability to delegate and direct other QAPI committee members in their assigned VIP roles and hold them accountable for their additional responsibilities.
? Ability to conduct surveillance using multiple techniques including chart audits, direct observation, and interview to draw conclusions regarding contributing cause and educate others.
? Ability to originate Performance Improvement (PI) studies.
? Ability to direct other QAPI team members while performance improvement studies are in progress; assist with corrective action plans, conduct research and initiate follow through and help other committee members as needed to complete process improvement studies.

? Ability to tender decision specific to severity and AHRQ Harm scale.

? Maintain medical staff files by method chosen by Center leadership (paper files or web-based application), keeping required documents with accuracy and currency.
? Demonstrate computer literacy, entering events, filtering data for reports, analyzing trends utilizing information intelligence.
? Ability to organize information, and initiate investigative research, communicate with Medical Director, Center leadership or other Medical Staff members whose engagement may be required to complete the peer review process.
? Ability to maintain privacy conditions specific to content found during medical care review.
? Ability to collaborate with Credentialing Verification Organization, account representative or application advisor for the upkeep of credentialing information management.
? Ability to present materials in organized manner, providing effective communication both written and verbal to persons of higher authority.
? Ability to conduct education needs assessment:
using variety of methods to obtain topic ideas.
? Ability to construct education calendar, including posting topic and date in timely manner, reaching attendees no later than one week prior to scheduled training.
? Ability to plan, prepare and provide staff education, including securing guest speakers when appropriate.
? Ability to conduct research using multiple formats to verify material content represents best practices.
? Ability to organize & deliver verbal presentation, and/or prepare power point & other written materials for training purposes.
? Ability to prepare written summary of education topic, retaining record of attendance.
? Ability to compose policy & procedure content, which is current, clear, concise, and coherent.
? Ability to organize policy & procedure materials in orderly manner keeping to a three-year review/ revise cycle.
